Hurricane Sandy Fundraisers at Philly-Area Fitness Studios

Sweat for Sandy relief.

Wondering what you can do to help Hurricane Sandy victims? If you’ve already donated to the Red Cross and Salvation Army but are itching to do more, head to one of these local yoga and fitness studios, where the Philly wellness community will be coming together to raise funds, collect food and more for hurricane victims. Here’s to bidding a sweaty so long to Sandy.

Dana Hot Yoga
Where: 244-246 Bala Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, 267-974-9805.
What: A 108 Sun Salute Donation Class, supporting the Food Bank of South Jersey. Canned goods, nonperishables and the like will also be collected for those families affected by the storm. For more info, go here. To register, go here.

RowZone Manayunk
Where: 4401 East Main Street, Manayunk, 215-798-0175
What: All profits made from the Hurricane Sandy Relief Row, a 4,000-meter indoor-rowing race, will go to the Red Cross as well as a relief fund for the Island Park community in New York, a community that was hit hard in the storm. RowZone will also accept any donations, including cash, canned goods, dry foods or critical items like diapers.
When: Sunday, November 4th at 10 a.m.

The Zen Den
Where: 101 North Washington Avenue, Suite 2A, Margate City, 609-335-6232.
What: All proceeds from this weekend’s classes (starting today) will go to community needs. “Community Classes” will also be offered at least once a week going forward; they will be “pay what you can,” and all proceeds from those classes will go towards rebuilding South Jersey.
When: November 2nd through 4th.
Cost: $17 for drop-ins this weekend; pay what you can for the community classes. Proceeds from classes will be donated.

House Party Fitness
Where:
La Belle Fit Studio & Spa, 219 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, 856-429-2290.
What: Starting this Sunday, class participants can donate any of the following when they come to class: toiletries, new or gently-used clothing for babies to adults, formula, diapers, bedding, and gift cards for Target or Walmart. Body Cycle Studio
Where: 1923 Chestnut Street, 2nd Floor, Philadelphia, 215-563-3663.
What: At the free Ride to Revive class, riders are encouraged to bring any donation they’d like in the form of cash, credit cards and checks to raise money for Sandy relief efforts. Sign up here.
When: Friday, November 9th at 7:45 p.m.
Cost: Pay what you can.

The Wall Cycling Studio
Where: 100 Levering Street, Manayunk, 267-336-7928.
What: Manayunk’s indoor-cycling studio will be holding donation classes, the admission for which is a minimum of two of the following: clothing, home necessities (pillows, towels, batteries, etc.), canned goods, and cleaning supplies. If cycling isn’t your cup of tea, the Wall is encouraging the non-spinning members of the Manayunk community to drop off their supplies and donations at the studio. Urbanfront Pilates
Where:

What: Pilates mat classes for a $10 donation. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. Call to reserve a spot.

Off The Mat Philly & Lululemon Athletica Sagemore Food Drive
Where: 500 Route 73, Marlton, NJ and other drop-off locations
What: Ok, so technically this food drive was planned before Sandy, but given the devastation from the storm, it’s now more important than ever. Yoga studios throughout South Jersey are dedicating the whole month of November to collecting food donations and raising awareness to fight hunger in their community. Lululemon Athletica in Sagemore will be offering free community yoga classes every Sunday through November taught by local South Jersey yoga teachers. Go here for the class schedule and more info. Contact info@yogawithbrittany.com with questions.

Focus Fitness Main Line
Where:

What: The following classes will be donation based: YeS+ class 6am, YeS class at 9:30am, and Hot Vinyasa yoga class at 6pm. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. Donations will be accepted in cash or checks made payable to The American Red Cross. Call or sign up online to reserve a spot.

Lucille Roberts Audubon
Where:

What: Jersey Strong Zumbathon. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. Checks made payable to The American Red Cross. For more info, click here.
When: November 17th from 2 to 4 p.m. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m.
Cost: Donation, minimum $10.

Lithe Method
Where: 219 Cuthbert Street, fourth floor, Philadelphia, and 393 West Lancaster Avenue, Haverford.
What: Lithe’s Old City and Main Line studios will host a Lithe Aid Lithe-a-thon, six 75-minute classes from which all proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.
When: Sunday, November 11th; various times.
Cost: $40 per class.

Wake Up Yoga South Philly
Where: 1839 East Passyunk Avenue, Philadelphia.
What: A one-hour donation class with yoga instructor Stephanie Berliner. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
When: Saturday, November 10th from 4 to 5 p.m.
Cost: Pay what you can; all proceeds will be donated.

vTrainers
Where: VTrainers, Inc., 21 Bala Avenue, Bala Cynwyd.
What:
vTrainers will be donating 50% of all personal training fees received at our Bala Cynwyd location.

Proceeds from fees received from private clients will be donated; additional client donations welcome.

Thanksgiving Outdoor Bootcamp for a Cause
Where: Voorhees Middle School Track, 1000 Holly Oak Drive, Voorhees.
What: 90-minute bootcamp class (30 min strength/30 min cardio/30 min yoga). Donations will benefit Staten Island.
When: Thursday, November 22nd from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
