Election Night 2012 Fitness Game

A drinking game? Please. This Election Night, celebrate the thrill of victory (or the agony of defeat) with a little exercise.

No matter which side of the political aisle you fall on, I think there’s one thing we can all agree on this election year: We’re on pins and needles. If you’re planning to stay up tonight to watch the returns, why not work off some of that nervous energy with a few push-ups and burpees? I give you: The Election Night Fitness Game.

Here’s how it works: Whenever something on the following list happens—whether you’re watching CNN, NBC, whatever—you have to do 15 reps of the specified exercise. Pretty straightforward, no? And, hey, feel free to get your election-watch-party buddies in on it, too. A little competition can’t hurt anyone—just ask Obama and Romney.

Every time someone says “Obamacare” … do push-ups.

Every time someone says the words “swing state” … do chair dips.

Whenever a state is called for Obama … do burpees.

Whenever a state is called for Romney … do squat jumps.

Whenever someone uses the phrase “too close to call” … do jumping jacks.

Any time the phrase “voter intimidation” is used … do lunges (left and right counts as one—no cheating!).

Any time someone mentions Ohio … do speed skaters (left and right counts as one—no cheating!)

Whenever someone talks about photo IDs … do reverse lunges.

Whenever anyone brings up “the youth vote” … do plank up-downs (up and down on both arms counts as one).

Any time someone says the word “recount” … do mountain-climbers.

Any time anyone uses a touch-screen map … do sit-ups.

Whenever said touch-screen map fails to function correctly … do bicycle sit-ups.

Whenever you see a tweet being used as a legitimate news source … do double leg lifts.

Whenever you hear the word “economy” … do a wall-sit.

Every time Wolf Blitzer says, “Take a look at this” … do the Superman.
