The Checkup: Condoms Won’t Stop You From Having Good Sex

A new study shows that sexual arousal, ease of erection, overall pleasure and orgasm rate just as highly with a condom as without.

• Wrap it up: In a new study, researchers found that condoms are not a “barrier” to good sex. Debby Herbenick, a sex researcher at Indiana University’s Center for Sexual Health Promotion, used data gathered for the National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior to find information about 1,645 men and women ages 18 to 59 who have recently had sex. What’s important here is this, as TODAY notes: The survey showed that reports of sexual arousal, ease of erection, overall pleasure and orgasm weren’t significantly different in those who used condoms than those who didn’t. What this important thing means: Rejoice! You no longer have a stupid excuse not to use a condom. Although the national survey was funded by Church & Dwight Co. Inc., the people who brought us Trojan condoms (this smells fishy!), Herbenick said that “the data is the data,” and Church & Dwight did not influence her findings. The bottom line? Use a condom. After all, “Sex feels pretty good, or we wouldn’t keep on having it.” Amen, Sister Herbenick. Amen.

• It seems that a growing number of men are signing up to strip down during yoga in Edmonton, Canada. (My body is chafing just thinking about it.) And, while we have our own naked yoga apologists here in Philly, take a look at how these foreign men reach nirvana in a surprisingly safe-for-work video and read more at CTV.

• If it’s true that Twitter makes you thinner, well, Facebook makes you fatter. A new report from the University of Pittsburgh shows that greater social network use is linked to higher BMI and more frequent binge eating among those who are too involved on Facebook. Read more here.
