Om Finder: Lululemon Launches New App for Yogis

This app makes finding a nearby yoga class ridiculously simple.

Leave it to Lululemon to make a ridiculously handy iPhone app you didn’t know you needed until you had it. The company’s new (and free!) Om Finder app, which launched today, makes finding a nearby yoga class a cinch.

Once you enable to it recognize your location (or input a city name or zip code), it shows you all the studios within your vicinity and the upcoming classes at each one. Switch from the map view to the Find a Class filter, and you’ll see a list of the day’s classes at all the studios near you. A search from Be Well HQ in Center City this afternoon turned up dozens of options, including Mommy & Me Yoga-Lates at Philly Power Yoga, Relax & Restore at Dhyana Yoga, and Power Hour at Power Yoga Works. Select a class and you’ll see the studio’s address and phone number along with a button allowing you to invite a friend. Click it and it’ll sync with your Facebook profile, allowing you to invite individual Facebook friends to join you for a few down-dogs. Cool, right?

If you have a favorite yoga teacher, you can filter your search by his or her name. The results will turn up all their upcoming classes. The Schedule tab keeps track of the classes you plan to attend.

The one misstep is that you can’t reserve your spot in the class through the app. If walk-ins are welcome at the studio, that’s no problem, of course. But if reservations are needed, you’ll have to either call the studio or book online through the studio’s website.

All in all, the app is a great resource, especially, say, if you’re traveling and want to explore studios in other cities. This is a super handy way to find a class that suits your yoga needs. Check out the video below for more on how it works.
