Bride-to-be Blogger Leslie: Saving That Date

I have always planned on sending out a save-the-date. I love the idea of sending out a fun pre-wedding invitation announcement out to all our family and friends to get them excited about the wedding. I also wanted to use the save-the-date as a creative way to introduce our guests to our wedding website, where I would have all the preliminary information for our wedding date.

Side Note: The word on the street is that when you send out your save-the-date cards in an appropriate amount of time before the Big Day, your guest list count goes up by 10-15 percent! Something to think about!

When the time came to start working on my save-the-dates, I immediately began scouring the Internet for creative ideas. I came across so many unique options. Some more popular choices included a card, postcard or magnet. Other ideas were personalized pens or souvenirs from the location where the wedding will be held. If you are having a destination wedding, some options I came across were to have the save-the-date printed on a ticket or travel document.

There were so many choices it was hard to find something that was “us,” but eventually we made an executive decision and went with a photo booth style magnet with three pictures from our engagement session. We wanted a magnet with the hopes that people would put it up on their fridge instead of throwing it somewhere and forgetting about it. We hoped it would at least decorate the kitchen. We also wanted to go with some fun pictures instead of a few shots of us smiling so we went with some pictures of Charles twirling me, which I hope gives out the idea that we are hoping to have a fun time at the wedding.

Are you going to do save-the-dates? What are your plans for them? Or what did you do?
