Bride-to-be Blogger Leslie: Sharing the Holidays

It’s that time of the year again! The holidays are officially upon us, and I can’t believe how fast everything crept up on us this season. What happened to fall?

With the excitement of the season, holiday shopping and spending time with family and friends, one important question comes up between any couple this time of year: Your family or mine?

Charles and I have been together for five years now, and we have spent the last two years together during the holidays. Where we will spend Thanksgiving and Christmas  —  either with my family in Virginia, or his in New Jersey — is always an important point of concern. The past two Thanksgivings we have spent with his famil,y but this year we are heading south to be with my family and enjoy my mom’s home cooking! I couldn’t be more excited!

It’s looking like we will be altering every year between families for Thanksgiving celebrations, but Christmas is something neither of us wants to give up with our families. The past two years we have ended up spending Christmas Eve with Charles’ parents, and then we leave bright and early Christmas morning for Virginia to spend the day and part of the weekend with my family. Charles’ whole family has a big party on Christmas Eve, while my family has a big dinner on Christmas day, so it works out that we both get to be with our loved ones — and even though it is a lot of traveling for us, it’s worth it!

So those are our crazy plans for the holidays. What are yours? How do you share the holidays with your significant other?
