Spring/Summer 2011 Is Here!

Well, it’s here, as in the Philly mag offices. In my hot little hands. But it’ll be in yours soon — you’ll be able to grab it off a newsstand on December 13th!

And you know, now that we’re seeing it in the flesh (er, the paper?), it really is so pretty, if we do say so ourselves. For this issue, we really wanted to capture all the fabulousness of a warm-weather wedding in Philly: the beautiful country, the Shore, the colors, the amazing gowns you’ll find in the regions’ awesome bridal salons. And we think we did it. From gowns and hair and makeup ideas to cakes, registry and brand new venues, we hope you’ll find oodles of inspiration in these new pages.

Just to give you a little taste, since you’ve got a week to go, here’s a little preview:

Philly’s Newest Lingerie Boutique: King of Prussia is now home to the newest outpost of Intimacy, from the famed “bra whisperer” Susan Nethero. And we, for one, just couldn’t be happier about the gorgeous European selection they’ve got — or their know-how when it comes to making sure these particular items fit.

Finances!: Yeah, we know that topic can seem a little boring. Too bad — you’ve got to talk about it. In this issue, we get tons of advice from local money experts on how you and your fiance can get on the right financial path now, so that you set up a solid foundation for your marriage. You know, one where you don’t have to hide every new pair of Loubies you buy, and you don’t want to knock his block off every time he buys a new video game when you’re supposed to be saving for that house.

Freshly Picked: This time around, we couldn’t resist flowers that look like they were just picked and gathered right before you walk down the aisle. So we got six local florists to show us what happens when they get a little wild.

Out of Africa: Philly mag executive editor Janine White went on a safari to South Africa recently, and reports back for this issue on what a simply to-die-for honeymoon this sort of trip would make. So take a look, and then decide whether to be insanely jealous — or to simply book your own.
