Bride-to-be Blogger Kathleen: Choosing Our Flowers!

The vessels Kathleen will use for her reception flowers.

So excited for the weekend!

Not only is it a three-day weekend, but my MOH and I are taking a trip to Malvern for some wedding-related errands. We are going to meet with our florist (the amazing Heather Moss Potter from Cottage Flowers), and stop in at some hair salons in the area to get a feel for pricing and atmosphere and whatnot.

I also think that once I start getting a little bit more familiar with the town of Malvern, some of the planning will start getting easier. I’ll have a better idea of how long the drive will be to and from the hair salons, where we can find the closest coffee and bagel shop, and where the nearest CVS is, just in case anyone has an emergency that I wouldn’t have planned for. You should always have a plan for the unexpected.

But let’s get back to the flowers! I came across Cottage Flowers through an online search of florists in the Malvern area, did a little research, and found out that Heather does amazing work and is very reasonable with her pricing. When I called to make an appointment, they were friendly and accommodating and went out of the way to give me step-by-step directions to their shop. When we arrived at the shop for our appointment back in October, I was sold. I didn’t even have to get out of the car. I knew just by looking at the cozy, rustic little building that they would understand the vision for our wedding.

The decision was finalized by Christian and his mother after Heather spoke with us about our ideas, and took us back into her work space to show us what they were working on for a wedding that evening. Everything about Heather and her business has just been fantastic so far and I can’t wait to show her what I have been working on: Check out the little buckets for flowers that I’m planning to use for some of the reception tables! (Sorry, I know the picture isn’t all that glamorous, but you get the idea.)

How did you know you had found your florist? Did you meet with several to get a feel for them?
