We have always encouraged—insisted, even—couples frenzied and crazed by wedding planning to take some time for just them where they don’t talk about the wedding at all. Have a date night where the topic is off limits, we say, or even a whole weekend. And hey, if you can actually get away for a little bit, and escape the chaotic operation’s home base for a few days, so much the better.

We think we just found a few trips perfectly designed for this sort of thing.

Hotels in Seattle and Portland—two of which were actually featured in the Fifty Shades of Grey series (Hotel Max and The Heathman) have put together packages for couples’ getaways inspired by the steamy series. They involve the best in accommodations, helicopter tours of Portland, sailboat rides around Puget Sound, lots of champagne and fancy dinners, among other treats. One of them even includes a, um, gray tie.
