Come Celebrate Brown Betty’s New Cookbook!

And pick up a copy, of course.

{UPDATE: The book release party went off without a hitch last week—but you should still be sure to pick up a copy of their fabulously sweet cook book!}

No doubt many of you already know and love Brown Betty Dessert Boutique—well, specifically, Brown Betty Dessert Boutique’s crazy-good cupcakes, which you can get at both their mothership bakery in NoLibs and their “petite” location in Liberty Place. (I mean, there are some of us who may or may not be known to polish off a lemon curd-filled Sallie’s Sourcream in about .2 seconds.) Well, as of now, here’s what else you can know: how to make your favorite Brown Betty goodies!

The bakery’s new cookbook—The Brown Betty Cookbook—has launched, written by bakery owners Norrinda Brown Hayat and her mother, Linda Hinton Brown. (Betty, who the bakery is named for, is Linda’s mother and Norrinda’s grandmother.) In it, you’ll find the recipes that have been in their family for years, and that grace their shelves in the forms of all those fabulous cakes, pies and cupcakes. (Not to mention their decadent wedding cakes, which, along with their other desserts, have been featured on our pages since they opened in 2004.) And it gets better: It was photographed by well-loved wedding photographer Alison Conklin, who we here at PW are also huge fans of.

Even better: There’s a party on Wednesday, October 17th to celebrate the book, and you’re invited! It’s at their Northern Liberties bakery at 722 North 2nd Street from 6 to 8pm, and there, you’ll be able to pick up a copy of the book (it’s $22.99), and sample those famous cupcakes while washing it down with Philly’s Rival Bros. coffee.

To give you a quick look behind the scenes of why they decided to do the book, check out the charming trailer for it here. See you at the party!
