After a few weeks of only focusing on minor details, I jam-packed this past weekend with some big wedding activities: On Friday I had my first dress fitting, and then on Saturday I had my shower. Good thing I had things to keep me distracted, because while I had a very girly weekend, Kevin was at his bachelor party.

BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER ALYSE: CHOOSING OUR PHOTOGRAPHER—AND VIDEOGRAPHERPosted by Alyse Fiori on 4/24/2012 at 12:19PM | 3 Comments
Picking the photographer and the videographer was one of the first things we tackled during the wedding planning process. Recently, I’ve been revisiting those decisions as I piece together the day-of time line—but first, a little bit about how I came to pick those very important vendors. |
BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER ALYSE: OUR FIRST DANCE … LESSONSPosted by Alyse Fiori on 4/16/2012 at 11:40AM | No Comments
One thing Kevin and I are a little nervous about is our first dance. It seems like many couples are nervous about the first dance, but for different reasons. Some don’t like the focus being on them, some aren’t sure which song to pick and some just don’t like to dance. Thankfully, we don’t have any issues like that—we are just awful dancers. Early on we decided that we would take dance lessons to hopefully cure our two left feet. We figured that this isn’t just something that will benefit us on our wedding day, but will help in all future-dancing events. |
BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER ALYSE: MY BACHELORETTE PARTYPosted by Alyse Fiori on 4/9/2012 at 5:36PM | No Comments
Well, that was fun! Last weekend I had my bachelorette party. Although I won’t be sharing everything, I think the planners did such a phenomenal job that I need to tell you about all of the details that made it such a memorable night. Many ideas were floated around in the original planning: weekend trips, big activities, wine tastings—but in the end, I decided that what I really wanted was a big party. So, I invited 23 of my closest friends to New York for one big night out. Friends from childhood to friends I met in the past year traveled from Philly, Boston, DC, Chicago and a few blocks away. |
BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER ALYSE: GROWING MY HAIR FOR THE WEDDINGPosted by Alyse Fiori on 3/25/2012 at 9:38PM | 2 Comments
It’s funny how being a bride can turn every day things about life that you just accepted into “problems.” I use the word “problems” loosely, of course—but right now, my “problem” is that my hair grows extremely slowly. Before I was engaged, this didn’t really bother me. I just didn’t get my hair cut that often, and only needed to get highlights three times per year. Problem? No, it was a blessing. |
BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER ALYSE: WHAT TO DIY?Posted by Alyse Fiori on 3/16/2012 at 11:07AM | 2 Comments
To DIY or not to DIY? That’s my question. For those not familiar with the lingo, DIY stands for “Do it yourself,” which is code for “saving money” in some instances, and “making a lot more work for yourself” in others. I think the key to making it worthwhile, though, is to actually enjoy the process of making things yourself. |
BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER ALYSE: SHOPPING FOR OUR WEDDING BANDS!Posted by Alyse Fiori on 3/9/2012 at 2:43PM | No Comments
Kevin and I just got back from a whirlwind trip to the Philly area where we met with the band, photographer, videographer, florist and cake baker (much more on all those things in later posts). I am exhausted just thinking about it, but planning a wedding from out-of-state requires that these marathon planning weekends take place. First, though, on our agenda was a trip to the jeweler. I needed to get my ring re-sized, and I didn’t know how long it would take, so I wanted to go right away. For the past ten months, I have been walking around with a too-big engagement ring. In the summer (because of the heat) and in the fall (because of the beer), my hands swelled a little so it wasn’t a pressing issue. But recently, the ring had been falling off, so I knew I had to get it re-sized ASAP. We decided that now was a good time to start looking for wedding bands, too, so we headed to Benari Jewelers in Newtown Square—where Kevin got the engagement ring—to accomplish both of these tasks. |
BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER ALYSE: MY WEDDING-DAY SUPERSTITIONSPosted by Alyse Fiori on 3/1/2012 at 12:41PM | 2 Comments
This week, I learned something very disturbing: It is unlucky to get married in a leap year. Now, I wouldn’t call myself superstitious—except for the fact that I totally am. I am the person that needs to eat “lucky” foods on New Years Day, makes an effort to say “rabbit rabbit” to myself on the first of the month and gets legitimately excited when I catch the clock at 11:11 so that I can make a wish. |
