If you’ve shopped at Terrain before, or eaten in the so-lovely Garden Cafe, and always wondered what it would be like to hold your wedding there, you’ll get a chance to more than just imagine it next Saturday, February 9, when the venue holds a bridal open house in the evening from 6 to 9pm.

The space will be set up like an actual wedding from each season, so you can get an idea of what it might actually look like on your Big Day, whether you’re thinking of having it in the spring, summer, fall or winter. Terrain will be showcasing their own decorating services, though you’ll also be able to see the work of—and chat with—other local vendors, including florist Sullivan Owen and photographer Michael Ash of Ash Imagery.

Lovesick Inc will keep the tunes coming the whole night, and reps from BHLDN will also be on hand (Terrain staff will even be wearing BHLDN dresses, so be sure to take note for your ‘maids!) showcasing their wedding gowns, accessories and wedding decor for your perusal. You’ll also be able to taste samplings from their event menu with appetizers and food stations from the Garden Cafe. (Along with wine and refreshments, of course.)

The open house is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. RSVP here, and happy planning!

Our Current Obsession: Customizing Wedding Details With a Sketch of You and Your Groom!

We love having a Philadelphia Wedding bride around the office!

After our last one got married, we mentioned that we had another wedding coming up in January, and it’s the adorable details from her upcoming Big Day that we’ve just got to show you now. (She being our very fabulous managing editor, Bridget Salmons. Countdown’s on, lady!)

Bridget and her fiance did something we’ve seen only a few times in other weddings, and because we’re just in love with it, we had to share. It’s this idea of using your and your groom’s likeness—like, literally some sort of image of the two of you—to really customize the different details of your day.

PANTONE’S 2013 COLOR OF THE YEAR: WILL YOU USE IT FOR YOUR WEDDING?

Posted by Carrie Denny on 12/10/2012 at 2:28PM | No Comments

Pantone's 2013 Color of the Year: Will You Use It For Your Wedding?

Pantone's 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald.

If you are a geek in the same way that we here at PW are geeks, then you, too, wait with baited breath around this time of year for Pantone to declare what will be the upcoming year’s Color of the Year.

To get it, they check in with various brands and designers to see what sorts of hues they’re working into their designs for the upcoming year, then roll those answers into their decision. And for 2013 they’ve just announced: it’s Emerald! (Specifically, for your color-chip concerns, PANTONE 17-5641.)

We were into last year’s Tangerine Tango, and all—but we think the usage potential for Emerald is just way higher. Tangerine, wedding-wise—well, and really kind of fashion-wise—lent itself more exclusively to the warm-weather season, and because it’s a bit much, was best used as an accent color or pop here and there.

Emerald, we feel, could actually be a major part of your wedding palette; I mean, what gorgeous bridesmaid dresses this shade would make! And, depending on what other colors you paired it with, could really work no matter what season you’re tying the knot. Jewel tones are never wrong.

But what do you think of Emerald? Are you excited to see this shade of green at the forefront of the style world? How would you use it in your wedding?

BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER STEPHANIE: TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO PERSONALIZE OUR DAY

Bride-to-be Blogger Stephanie: Trying to Find Ways to Personalize Our Day

Hemera

At my mom’s insistence, we hired a wedding planner—essentially to serve as Switzerland between my mom and me; to offer compromise. We were also seeking insight and direction from a bridal expert full of suggestions and contacts in the midst of a confusing stream of possibilities.

The jury’s still out on benefits and impact thus far, but we recently delved deeper, and met to discuss a possible wedding theme. The wedding planner specializes in personalized themes—making wedding style choices a reflection of the couple, rather than merely decoration. I love this concept. I think that’s what can distinguish some of the best weddings: when design details embody the bride and groom.
