BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER CARLY: PHEW: OUR REGISTRY IS FINISHED!

Bride-to-be Blogger Carly: PHEW: Our Registry is Finished!

Dynamic Graphics

A while back Sean and I attempted our first wedding registry at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We found it to be an incredibly overwhelming experience, and while we left it incomplete, hadn’t revisited the whole thing until recently.

As we are approaching the 100-days-til-our-wedding mark, we are trying to tie up all the loose ends in our planning. One of these loose ends was completing our registry.

Since most of the various department and home goods stores carry many of the same items, I decided that I’d choose our second registry location by their dinnerware. After looking over the selections at Macy’s, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Target, and more, I found just what I was looking for at Crate & Barrel. Since Sean doesn’t really care about our dishes, he deferred to me on this decision.

Be Entered to Win Honeymoon Luggage and a $1,000 Gift Card When You Register at The Container Store

If you’re anything like us, you could move into The Container Store and be perfectly happy. And if that does, indeed, describe you, then we’re guessing it’s safe to bet that you are going to include the glorious store’s Cherry Hill location on your wedding registry. If you are, good news—and if you weren’t going to, maybe you should check this out:

These organization experts have just announced their Love, Share, Win! wedding registry contest with two fab prizes perfectly fit for newlyweds: Starting on March 1st, couples who register at The Container Store will be automatically entered to win an Eagle Creek Luggage honeymoon package valued at $1,000 and also a $1,000 gift card to the The Container Store with no restrictions on purchases. Good for anything in the store from Elfa, their modular shelving and drawer system, to individual purchases made in the name of getting you and the hubby organized as you unpack all of those wedding gifts after the honeymoon.

For an even better chance at winning these prizes, they’ll give you another entry to the contest with each transaction that is made off your registry. So the more friends and family shop off your list, the better your chances.

There will be three chances to win from now until Dec 31st; the first drawing date will be announced shortly. Now get zapping!

BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER KRISTY: SHOPPING FOR TUXES & REGISTERING AT REI

Bride-to-be Blogger Kristy: Shopping For Tuxes & Registering at REI

Brand X Pictures

This weekend felt a bit like the opening scene to Deniece William’s music video for “Let’s Hear It for the Boy.” (I think that statement may have shown my age a bit, and now you’re probably singing the lyrics as you read—sorry!) Eric and I spent this past weekend focusing on the boys, starting with tux shopping.

With a quickly expiring Men’s Warehouse coupon in our pocket, we headed out to the chain store and starting searching for what would outfit the men for our wedding. While there, I kind of felt like I shouldn’t have been, since Eric won’t see my digs until the Big Day—but I guess that’s the beauty of being a bride.

BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER CARLY: SHOULD WE USE A HONEYMOON REGISTRY?

Bride-to-be Blogger Carly: Should We Use a Honeymoon Registry?

Hemera

Sean and I have yet to decide on our honeymoon destination and complete our gift registry. However, we are in the process of doing both—and are even considering combining the two to create a honeymoon gift registry.

While at a friend’s wedding this summer, we learned about online honeymoon registries. These friends had set up an account through HoneyFund.com where they could register for various honeymoon activities that guests could “purchase” for them. So, rather than giving cash, a guest might give an experience. For instance, say the couple wanted to take a sailboat ride to snorkel with some sea turtles. They would post this experience to their honeymoon registry and a guest could then buy that as their wedding gift. Gifts can range from a bottle of champagne to airline tickets, and anything in between. For higher ticket items, such as airfare or hotel stays, the items can be broken into smaller units, much like buying one place setting rather than all eight.

Sounds pretty cool, right?

BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER CARLY: TRYING TO FIND “OUR SONG”

Bride-to-be Blogger Carly: Trying to Find “Our Song”

And I swear by the moon and the stars in the sky

I’ll be there

I swear like a shadow that’s by your side

I’ll be there

Nothing could make by fourth-grade heart melt quite like All-4-One’s masterpiece love song “I Swear.” Now, my fourth-grade self may have been years from having a boyfriend, let alone getting married, but I swore (pun intended) this song would definitely be played during the first dance at my wedding (which, fingers crossed, would be to Jonathan Taylor Thomas). I confided this in my sister, Claire, knowing then she’d be my maid of honor and would totally support my decision.  (I was wrong, and she still teases me about my corny song obsession to this day!)

BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER CARLY: LET THE REGISTERING BEGIN: BED, BATH AND BEYOND (YOND-YOND-YOND)

Bride-to-be Blogger Carly: Let the Registering Begin: Bed, Bath and Beyond (yond-yond-yond)

So, being pretty clueless about the when-to’s of wedding planning, I am very reliant on the checklist that our wedsite (weddingwire.com) provides me. While in the midst of planning our engagement party, the checklist advised that Sean and I begin on our registry. After talking with a few of my recently wedded friends, we decided the best place to start would be the big ole’ Bed, Bath and Beyond. They have everything, I thought, how hard can it be? And, on the upside, I heard that it may even provide for a “pretty nice little Saturday.”

Sean and I decided on making the trip to BB&B on a Saturday morning a few weeks ago. I had been advised by my married friends that registering is not to be done on an empty stomach, especially if you want the groom’s full attention. So I made sure we each had a healthy, filling breakfast before we hit the road.

BRIDE-TO-BE BLOGGER KRISTY: WE STARTED THE WEDDING REGISTRY PROCESS

Posted by Kristy Schultz on 9/12/2012 at 5:31PM | 5 Comments

Dynamic Graphics

Eric and I found ourselves at a home goods store last week in the registry department, armed with a scanner and a basic check list.

We decided to start a registry because we have an engagement party around the corner, and we had an open Wednesday night. Starting a registry is fun and exciting, but can also be a bit overwhelming. I tried doing my homework before venturing through the store, but there’s only so many pots and pan sets you can compare online before surrendering to someone with a bit more expertise. (Then, you still find yourself in the kitchen gadgets section thinking, “What on earth did we do before silicone oven mitts?” Or you spend 10 minutes going back and forth between metallic grey or a white mixer.)
