Here's What Information You Should Put On Your Wedding Website

iStockphoto

It used to be that only couples who were doing out-of-town weddings would set up a wedding website (or “wedsite,” if we’re being cute), but these days, pretty much everyone does it. And with good reason. It’s a good way to put all of the information for your wedding guests in one place where they can access it any time they have a question without sending you texts in the middle of your workday, and, you know, that cute thing again. It’s just fun to do.

That said, sometimes, it’s kind of hard to know where to start or what all, exactly, should go on there—and we recently saw a piece that breaks down pretty well all that information for you.

I agree with pretty much everything it’s got to say—especially the thing about not posting 47 albums of you and your groom on vacation; I mean, sorry, not relevant—except for the part about guests not needing to know how you met or how you got engaged. Sure, don’t go on for 10 scrollable pages or anything, but this is your wedding! The site is meant to be informative and cover logistics, yes, but even the guests who know those stories front and back will get a smile out of reading them in your words, and many guests probably won’t have heard one or either before. It might not end up looking like this, or anything—but totally go ahead with that.

How did you and your groom decide what info you’d put on your wedsite? Did you go the bare minimum for pure functionality’s sake, or go all out?

VIDEO: CONAN O’BRIEN CRASHES A WEDDING IN ATLANTA

Posted by Carrie Denny on 4/3/2013 at 11:18AM | No Comments

Kudos to the bridesmaid this past weekend who found out that Conan O’Brien was staying at the same hotel—the Four Seasons in Atlanta—where her friends were getting married, and Tweet-invited him to the festivities … because it worked!

Yep, Coco showed up, chatted with the bride and groom (reportedly flipping through family photos while the bride sat on his lap), posed for photos with guests—and of course, taught the groom how to do his signature “string dance.”

Check out the vid below for the full report and to see photos of Mr. O’Brien with the bride and groom! What celeb would you most like to crash your wedding?

CELEB ROUNDUP: KELLY CLARKSON GETS ENGAGED; KAT VON D GETS ENGAGED—ON TWITTER

Posted by Carrie Denny on 12/17/2012 at 3:03PM | No Comments

Well, besides the airing of Bachelorette Ashley Herbert’s nuptials on Sunday night and Donald Faison marrying Cacee Cobb (who you may remember as Jessica Simpson’s bestie from Newlyweds days—and yes, Jessie was a bridesmaid), over the weekend, there was even more celeb wedding news in the form of two new engagements.

Kelly Clarkson said yes to her bf—well, now fiance—Brandon Blackstock, which we were happy to hear in part because she predicted the engagement out loud on Ellen last month. (That sort of thing always makes us nervous.) See pics of her giant canary diamond engagement ring here.

And then in slightly less traditional engagement stories, we have Kat Von D—she of TLC’s LA Ink show and former fiance of former Mr. Bullock, Jesse James—being proposed to over Twitter, complete with a photo of the not-quite-complete ring her now-fiance Joel Zimmerman had for her. It seems like she may have accepted in person, at least. Hmm.

See, everyone loves a holiday-season engagement! Wonder who else we’ll see become betrothed before the end of 2012.

Survey: Brides Really, Really Like Social Media

Wavebreak Media

In more not-surprising news, a new survey conducted by The Knot and Mashable shows how much brides are using all types of social media during their wedding-planning days. Here’s a fun little infographic that shows the results.

It includes everything from what online channels brides use to plan their weddings (though 78 percent still buy print wedding magazines, woohoo!) to how they feel about guests checking in while actually at their wedding.

Have any of you found vendors through Facebook or used an app to help organize your planning?

IDIOT GROOM INVITES VIRTUAL GIRLFRIEND TO HIS WEDDING, REAL BRIDAL ANGER ENSUES

Idiot Groom Invites Virtual Girlfriend To His Wedding, Real Bridal Anger Ensues

iStockphoto

Your groom has, perhaps, pulled a few moves during your engagement that have made you less than happy. And hey, he might even manage to be less than charming at some point on your wedding day, depending on how many shots his groomsmen feed him—but we think we can safely say he won’t do anything this stupid.

A recent groom in Japan not only invited his virtual girlfriend to his real wedding—no, seriously, she’s from the Nintendo DS dating sim Love Plus—he even set a place for her at one of the tables. You know, theoretically, so she could virtually enjoy the filet and beautiful centerpiece.

Why this little situ even got this far—I mean, the bride would have been involved in the table arrangements, right? Certainly no groom goes rogue when it comes to that?—is beyond me, but apparently, the bride chose their reception to declare her unhappy feelings about all of this, the bride and groom ended up smashing said Nintendo DS together with a wooden mallet (which was, what, in their wedding planner’s emergency kit?), and, we can only imagine, rode off into the sunset to live happily ever after.

Good one, huh?

HOW TO TELL PEOPLE YOU’RE ENGAGED

How To Tell People You're Engaged

Stockbyte

That seems like a weird title—and topic—for a post, we bet you’re thinking. That seems like common sense, you say? Well, we wish. But the thing is, in this age of technology or whatever you want to call it, we unfortunately find ourselves cringing more often than we’d like after hearing about, say, a girl who changed her status to “engaged” before telling her best friends, or a guy who Tweeted, “She said yes!” before calling his parents.

And, so, the post.
