What We Love: Kiehl’s LifeRide

Celebrate today with special events that kick off at 11 a.m.

We’ve always loved Kiehl’s products (hello, musk) that help make us look and a feel better. But today (Aug. 1) if you stop by the shop at 18th and Walnut you’ll receive 15 percent off your purchase to celebrate LifeRide. Kiehl’s has partnered with amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) for the second annual LifeRide, a seven-day charity motorcycle ride up the East Coast that got started on July 31 in King of Prussia and goes until Aug. 6.

“From our inception, it has been Kiehl’s mission to give back to the communities in which we do business,” says Kiehl’s President Chris Salgaro. “I’m humbled that as a company, we not only raise funds for amfAR, but we get personally involved with the cause.”

LifeRide has six stops during the event – including today in Philly before heading to Short Hills, N.J., Burlington, V.T., Boston and the flagship store in New York City’s Meatpacking District. Salgaro will lead the ride along with Alain de Cadenet, a Le Mans racer and ESPN Speed Channel host. Other celebrity participants include Jason Lee, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tyson Beckford, Tricia Helfer, Justin Chatwin, Katee Sackhoff, Teddy Sears, Christopher Redman and Marguerite Moreau.

The events gets started at 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. with a meet and greet with the riders along with a special LifeRide-inspired menu created by Jennifer Carroll of Bravo TV’s Top Chef Contender. Kiehl’s will also present a check to amfAR as guest enjoy treats from Sweet Cupcakes. Kiehl’s will also introduce the Limited Edition Ultra Facial Cream featuring a special motorcycle motif.

Kiehl’s has long donated to AIDS organizations – to the tune of one million dollars. This latest event is expected to generate $75,000 for amfAR after being inspired by Kiehl’s longtime history with motorcycles. Kiehl’s invites anyone to support LifeRide by making a $10 donation to amfAR by phone (text LIFERIDER to 80888 and reply YES to confirm).

“Kiehl’s has been a valuable and longtime supporter of amfAR’s vital research work, and the funds raised through the Kiehl’s LifeRide will bring us that much closer to finding a cure for HIV and AIDS,” adds amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost.
