Weekend Roundup: The Goddess Isis at Tabu

Also: Sing Your Life Karaoke celebrates the King of Glam and more.

It’s official: We’ve been thoroughly gang-banged by the busy holiday season and now we’re left alone, trying to remember what to do with a month that isn’t littered with one yuletide/New Year shindig after another. Well, rest easy, social butterfly, I’m here with a roundup full of gay events that’ll keep the good times rolling for at least one more weekend.

TONIGHT

It’s too cold out to spend too much time carousing Old City’s First Friday offerings, but once you’ve had a few of the free beverages, you could head to Tabu for Thank Goddess It’s OMG!: New Year, New Glamour, starring the fantastically made-up Goddess Isis (seriously, nobody can make-up a face like that bitch) and fellow drag queens Anessa LaRae, Lady Poison and Miss Rose. As always, the fab Notorious OMG (pictured, top right) will be hosting and DJ Robert Brandon will be spinning dance tunes in between performances. 10 p.m. – 2 a.m., $10, Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar, 200 S. 12th St.

SAT., JAN. 5

It’s a busy weekend at Tabu and for The Notorious OMG. On Saturday, she’s taking over MC duties once again when the Liberty City Kings Drag and Burlesque (LiCK) troupe kickoff their first performance of the year, Vixens and Vagabonds Queer & Kinky Cabaret: 50 Shades of Gay!. Along with performances by regular LiCKers like Heather Marcelle (pictured, top left), the group is welcoming “Baltimore’s Fiercest Femme” Roma Mafia. Sounds like a sexy good time. 9 p.m., $8 (in drag or kink)-$10 (in plain clothes), Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar.

SUN., JAN. 6

On Sunday, G Philly-favorite ally Sara Sherr’s Sing Your Life Karaoke is summoning all things hunka-hunka-burning-love and über-glam at Bowie-Elvis Karaoke. The evening’s being thrown in honor of the two rock gods’ upcoming birthdays, so feel free to bring any balloons and confetti you have left over from your  New Year’s celebrations — but whatever you do, don’t think about singing Bowie without glitter-bombing the audience. 9 p.m., free, Bob & Barbara’s, 1509 South St.

Have a fun, safe weekend. See y’all Monday!
