Philly Trans Woman on What Not to Wear

A local trans woman got a makeover of a lifetime on last night’s episode of TLC’s What Not to Wear. Casey D., a 29-year-old Philly firefighter, has been living as a woman for nine years, but couldn’t figure out how to dress the newly curvaceous figure she attained after taking hormones. She feared dressing up would make her “look like a drag queen,” so she putzed around Philly in sweatpants and bedroom slippers to avoid standing out. But it doesn’t take a style expert to know that’s just flat-out wrong.

So, with the prodding of her sister, hosts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly swooped in to give her some advice and a check for $5,000 to buy a whole new wardrobe in New York City. Why she couldn’t shop in Philly is beyond me.

After a hair and makeup session, Casey revealed her knockout new look at Bourbon Blue in Manayunk. If you missed it, you can see a sneak peek of the episode here. But you won’t be able to see the vivacious reveal until the show re-airs on Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. Set your DVRs!
