The Gay and Lesbian Latino AIDS Education Initiative (GALAEI), known locally for its brazen discussions about sexual health that embrace the inner kink monster in all of us, has invited gay porn star Conner Habib to host Beyond Our Bodies, a workshop that asks, “what would sexual health look like if we enacted it in our daily lives, in our emotional, mental and cultural spheres?”

Allentown native Habib, who also dishes out sex and relationship advice on Logo TV’s newnownext.com, says the afternoon chat will include discussions about aspects of sexual health that stray beyond the normal wear-a-condom jargon — something, he says, his experience in the porn industry has taught him well. “Porn stars have a lot to offer in discussions about sexual health,” he says, pointing to the profession’s ability to “deal with sex and sexuality openly,” and the fact that “we have to be hyper aware of sexual health.”

Beyond Our Bodies kickstarts GALAEI’s upcoming SEXO campaign, a forward-thinking exhibit on sexuality that “blends bathhouse, bedroom back alley and forum into a three-dimensional where people ask questions, speak out and create new conversations about sexual realities.”

Beyond Our Bodies takes place Sun., March 24, from 12:30 p.m to 2 p.m. at the William Way Community Center (1315 Spruce St.). SEXO opens April 12 and runs through June 12 in the William Way Center’s John J. Wilcox Jr. Archives Gallery.
