Temple Gay Web Series Scores Emmy Nomination

The third episode of One of the Guys gets a nod from the Mid-Atlantic Emmys.

The cast and crew of  Temple web series One of the Guys are in gay heaven this week after finding out that Episode 3 of the show has been nominated for a 2013 Mid-Atlantic Emmy in the category of College/University Production Long-Form: Fiction. The series, which follows three gay pals and their straight roommate, is one of two nominated for the prize. The award ceremony will take place on Sept. 7 at the Sheraton in Society Hill.

Writer and Director Michael Busza tells me he’s humbled by the news. “Not only is this a huge honor for the show, it also says a lot about Temple’s diversity and the livelihood of Philly’s gay scene. … If we win, I hope they paint our statue pink — we really do need more gay content on television and [this is] a testament to the whole team that we [are able to play a] part in providing that.”

In an interview earlier this year, One of the Guys co-star Matt McWilliams hinted that this may be the one and only season of the show, but does this Emmy nod mean we may get another round from the guys? Busza says probably not, but “tell LOGO I’m waiting.”

For now, Season 1 will return this fall with two new episodes, including one that was filmed in Rehoboth earlier this summer.
