"To me, marriage means two people that love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives with each other."

Today on the Philly Post, blogger Stephen Silver makes a strong case that the Philadelphia Eagles should sign 31-year-old punter Chris Kluwe, and G Philly couldn’t agree more. Yes, he’s a fine player, Silver writes, but Kluwe, who was recently cut from the Minnesota Vikings, is also an outspoken advocate for marriage equality. Silver explains some of the player’s efforts to make same-sex marriage happen in Minnesota and what it could mean if he came to Philadelphia: READ MORE

WHY OUT NFL PROSPECT ALAN GENDREAU WOULD BE A PERFECT DRAFT PICK

Aside from his Abercrombie looks, the kicker also has interesting bona fides: a killer leg and an off-field identity as a devout Christian.

Posted by Michael Callahan on 4/26/2013 at 9:25AM | No Comments

Following up on the initial report from OutSports, Out magazine’s web site has an interesting take on the now-underway NFL draft, and more specifically the case of kicker Alan Gendreau, arguably the first true “out” NFL prospect. Aside from his Abercrombie looks, which would certainly attract marketing attention, Gendreau also has interesting bona fides: a killer leg and an off-field identity as a devout Christian. The latter is a wrench that those who argue that having an openly gay player in the locker room would be a tremendous distraction will have a hard time getting around. READ MORE

If you haven’t heard already, there are rumors floating around the web that a pro NFL player is planning to come out of the closet soon. There’s still no word about who it is, but the news has inspired some in the NFL to start stupid-blabbing. Last week, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons tweeted that, while he’s “not against anyone,” he thinks the person should have come out in high school or college, and that coming out in the NFL would be a “selfish act.” READ MORE
