Last week, I shared a list of the 10 best gay beaches in the world, which included sparkly shores from Fire Island to Tel Aviv to Cape Town, South Africa. Hopefully that helps make your 2013 summer-travel planning a little easier, but with beach plans comes an even bigger question: What are you going to be shaking your man biscuits in while frolicking around on that gay-populated sand? Queerty has put together a fun-but-practical guide to help men choose the best swimsuits for their body types. Below, I break down a few of their tips and tricks. You can check out Queerty’s entire list, here. READ MORE |

It’s fast moving and you have to watch closely, but a catchy new ad for Nordstrom’s wedding boutique features a bunch of gay couples — including LGBTQ allies Macklemore and Ryan Lewis — dancing around at “The Ultimate Wedding Party.” The department store is the next in a long line of major retailers who have put gay people in ads, including Amazon, JCPenney and Crate and Barrel. You can check out the Nordstrom vid after the jump. READ MORE |
BUY THIS: OUTSPOKEN TANK TOPS BY PHILLIP MINERShow off those biceps with this original line of tank tops out of Brooklyn.Posted by Josh Middleton on 4/2/2013 at 3:44PM | No Comments
Brooklyn artist Phillip Miner is kind of like a gay superhero. By day, he trudges along at his job writing medical grants, but at night he twirls out of those working-man clothes to battle gay stereotypes with his all-mighty super power: tank tops! But unlike most caped and masked crusaders who keep their gifts to themselves, this scruffy babe is looking to share his with the masses via his new queer-design project, OUTspoken. The venture grew out of his curiosity about “the words people use to pigeon-hole gay men” — from the hate-monger-derived “faggot” or “pansy” to the words gay people use to define one another, like “bear” or “twink.” In an attempt to re-appropriate the labels, Miner and graphic artist Joe Sinness worked together to create illustrations inspired by the history and mythology of the terms. When they came up with sketches they liked, they slapped those bad boys on some heather-grey tank tops and, voila!, OUTspoken was born. “Gay men are forced to struggle with these words from the time we are bullied in schools [through] adulthood,” says Miner. “These shirts give [them] the opportunity to own and de-stigmatize these words, while showing gay youth that there is nothing wrong with being gay.” READ MORE |

PHOTOS: WHO WORE IT BEST AT OUR LGBTQ PARTY AT THE PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOWSnaps of some of the best dressed ladies and gentlemen at last night's gay soiree at the Convention Center.Posted by Josh Middleton on 3/4/2013 at 12:42PM | 3 Comments
G Philly’s LGBTQ party at the Philadelphia Flower Show was a fab affair. Nearly 300 people came out to mingle, enjoy some bevs and nibbles, and take a twirl around the U.K.-themed Flower Show downstairs. Like I said last night, though, the climax was Martha Graham Cracker. Having just performed for hundreds of parents and children at Christ Church Neighborhood House earlier in the day (see a video of that performance here), she seemed to have an extra dose of sparkle as she sang and flirted with her gays at the Convention Center. She performed four songs — two Elton John numbers, one by Roberta Flack and she closed with “Rainbow Connection” by “that little green man.” Throughout the performance, the deliciously leggy queen worked entire room — serenading unsuspecting audience members, addressing people in the main exhibit space Evita-style from the balcony where the stage was located, and she did a hilarious bit on the down escalator that ended in a tumble that may or may not have been an accident. Either way, she pulled it off like a charm and gave us one hell of a memorable performance. You can see a video of her grand finale above. But when Martha wasn’t dazzling on stage, some of our more sartorially minded guests kept our eyes entertained in ensembles that ran the gamut from dapper and whimsical to downright sexy. Since the party doubled as somewhat of a preview for the upcoming release of G Philly‘s Spring Style issue, I decided to focus my lens on the best-dressed in the crowd — those who rocked attire with a little extra zhoosh. See who made the list after the jump. READ MORE |
DAVID BECKHAM OR MATTHEW TERRY. WHO WEARS UNDIES BETTER?Today, H&M released an ad campaign for its newest line of underwear. How do you think it stacks up to the steamy Calvin Klein ad?Posted by Josh Middleton on 2/6/2013 at 11:20AM | No Comments
The steamy Calvin Klein Super Bowl ad starring hunky model Matthew Terry in undies still has us all aflutter, but can David Beckham steal his thunder? Today, H&M launched an ad campaign for its newest line of undies, and the tatted soccer hero takes front and center in the photos and a short film directed by fellow Brit Guy Ritchie. So I’m wondering, which package takes the prize? There’s no denying the hotness factor of the CK ad, but does it come across as too unattainable? Terry’s like a Roman gladiator, and the only thing I hear when I watch is this song playing on loop in my brain. The Beckham ad is a little more down-to-earth, but is it too real to make you wanna go out and buy a pair of H&M briefs that may or may not unravel after two washes? Watching him climb out of a pool in nothing but boxer briefs may be enough to push me toward Team Beckham, but that’s just my opinion. Check out the two video ads after the jump and weigh in in the comment section below. READ MORE |
BUY THIS: EQUALITY WATCHPhiladelphia's Cadence Watch Company says it's about time for equal rights.Posted by Josh Middleton on 1/31/2013 at 12:21PM | 1 Comment
If you’re a fan of puns, pretty things and, well, knowing what time it is, Philadelphia’s Cadence Watch Company has just issued an Equality Watch — like, a bonafide wristwatch, not a daily monitoring of gay-rights headlines, though it kind of has that thought in mind, too. A rep from the company says the watch’s creation stemmed from their belief “that human rights should encompass all, and that we should all wear cool watches.” Well played. The line of Equality watches is called EQL. On the face of each, 12 raised, metal equals signs replace the hour marks, with the equals at “12″ turned horizontally to, as the website puts it, “make its meaning as an equals sign clear.” Here are some of the other specs:
The watches retail at $125 and can be purchased at cadencewatch.com. The company is currently hosting a giveaway contest, where they’re offering entrees 53 percent off for signing up.
