Our company is Tague Lumber, Inc. We are a major building materials dealer in the metropolitan Philadelphia area with locations in Philadelphia, Media, Phoenixville and Malvern. Our company has just passed the 100 year mark and we are proud of it. I could of course begin by telling you the same usual reasons why our company should be chosen as one of the offices in the Be Well Philly Office Challenge. We have lots of overweight employees … It would be fun … We are involved in fitness …
But the truth is our company needs a major morale boost and not just because of the economy. One of our beloved employees who was with the company for 30 years—and, I might add, never missed a days work—recently passed away from malignant brain lesions. It was a long, difficult struggle for him. His illness hit the company hard and put our employees into shock. Last year for support, our company raised money and ran in the Brain Tumor Society Run for the Cure. We have also just started an Employee Wellness Program. We started this not only to try and assist our employees to learn about healthy lifestyles, but we thought that it could be a great morale booster for them. We did a survey and a large percentage of our employees wanted to begin some sort of competitive challenge among the employees. I think that the Be Well Philly Office Challenge would be the perfect solution and would be very enthusiastically welcomed by our employees. Of course, truth be told, there are some that could stand to lose a few or more pounds and get into better shape—me included—and the challenge would be a great incentive. I hope you will consider Tague Lumber, Inc. for the contest. We are a great long-standing Philadelphia family-owned-and-operated business!!
