Eat Up Fall: Two Events You Should Know About

ss200x150Sandwich Smash
Unbreaded — a Best of Philly-winning local food blog dedicated to the art of the sandwich — is taking their obsession live with Sandwich Smash at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at The Bellevue on Sunday, October 4th. (Relax; it’s a bye week.)

Five local chefs (Michael Solomonov from Zahav, Peter McAndrews from Paesano’s, Arthur Cavaliere from Parc, Rick Olivieri from Rick’s Steaks and Mark Coates from Bebe’s Barbecue — another Best Of winner) will whip up their unique sandwich concoctions onstage during a quick interview. So basically, the audience will be treated to a five-course sandwich meal, plus drinks from Anheuser-Busch, snack foods from Herr’s, and dessert from Capogiro. And they’ve partnered with Philabundance for a peanut butter and jelly drive.

Hungry? We thought so. Tickets are $65, but enter the code Philly09 to receive 20% off.

Police Appreciation Month
From September 14th – 20th, merchants at Reading Terminal Market will feature “blue plate special” meals from which a portion of the sale will benefit the Philadelphia Police Foundation. From September 21st – 26th, Table 31 and it’s outdoor seating, The Plaza, will get into the game by donating $3 from every cavatelli dish and pizza sold to the Foundation. (Their two most popular items.)
