Two Very Special Philadelphia Restaurant Events

Next month, Philadelphia restaurant lovers will get the chance to do two extraordinary things at the same time — be part of an evening that features more than 30 of the world’s best chefs, plus help out one of America’s most beloved charities, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, in the fight against childhood cancer.

It all happens at the fifth annual Great Chefs Event, hosted by the Vetri Foundation to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Yes, that’s Vetri as in Marc Vetri, and he’s just one of the notable chefs who’ll be on hand at Urban Outfitters headquarters in the Navy Yard on the evening of June 15th. Among the other superstars who’ll be creating amazing dishes and helping raise money are Iron Chefs Jose Garces, Masaharu Morimoto and Michael Simon; Top Chef judge Tom Coliccio; James Beard Award winners Nate Applebaum (of New York’s Pulino’s) and Barbara Lynch (of Boston’s No. 9 Park); and an array of Philadelphia’s finest culinary masters, including Michael Solomonov (Zahav), Jennifer Carroll (10 Arts), and Daniel Stern (R2L). Tickets for the fundraiser, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., are available for $250 each, with proceeds going to Alex’s. Get more information at vetrifoundation.org.

Now, here’s the extra-special part for Restaurant Club member only: On May 6th, we’ll hold a special, intimate Restaurant Club dinner to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand at Osteria, featuring Marc Vetri and Barbara Lynch. In addition to an incredible multi-course meal (with optional wine pairing), you’ll get to meet both chefs and receive a signed copy of Barbara’s new book, Stir: Mixing It Up in the Italian Tradition. Because seating for this event is limited, and because our goal is to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand, we’re only opening this dinner to RC members who also buy a ticket to the Great Chefs event. Cost to attend the two incredible evenings of eating — and help in the fight against childhood cancer — is $350 per person ($275 of which is tax deductible). Call Osteria at 215-763-0920 now to reserve your spot. We’ll see you there.
