Watermelon, Barbecue, and Bluegrass

Percy Street Barbecue — the South Street smokehouse by Chef-owner Erin O’Shea — is celebrating America’s birthday with an old-fashioned Texan barbecue. The focus is on all things American — smoked meats, cowboys, bluegrass, and lots of watermelon.

The barbecue fest starts on Saturday, July 3rd with Cowboy Karaoke from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. — all western crooners receive a free dessert. On Sunday, the Fourth proper, Percy Street will feature a live bluegrass band from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. They’ll wrap out the weekend with a sweet and boozy finish on Monday, July 5th — they’ll pour drafts of 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon Wheat Beer and Roy Pitz Watermelon Lager all day, plus patrons will get a slice of free spiked (or virgin) watermelon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The fest coincides with the introduction of O’Shea’s all-day menu, which will be offered seven days a week beginning on Saturday, July 3 at 11:30 a.m. The menu includes appetizers like deviled eggs, smoked pork belly sandwich platters, straight smoked meats like brisket and house-made sausage, sides, and dessert.

To celebrate the all-day menu, Percy Street will be serving 20 free meals daily from Monday, July 12th to Friday, July 16th Yes, FREE. The first 20 diners each day get the free grub; the restaurant opens at 11:30 a.m. daily. Plus, each patron to receive a free meal will be entered into a raffle to receive free lunch once a week for a year.
