Photo Sneak Peek: JG Domestic

Jose Garces’s new restaurant, JG Domestic, opens to the public this Friday, October 15, serving food and drinks sourced from the good ol’ U.S. of A. Service at the Garces Trading Company-branded coffee kiosk adjacent to the restaurant will start bright and early at 8 a.m. on Friday, then the restaurant will serve lunch from at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., then happy hour from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and dinner starting at 5 p.m.. A bold move, especially for a restaurant’s first day in existence, but when you’re a high-level operator like Garces (or Starr, Vetri, or anyone else with a major operations machine behind it), the public isn’t going to give you time to find your bearings.

So what’s a restaurateur to do to work out the kinks? A series of trial runs that are just like regular service, but the guests are all specially invited — otherwise known as “friends and family” — which Garces started today. We swung by to snap some photos of the new restaurant and some of the menu items. We’re still waiting on a copy of the menu, which we’ll post ASAP, Update: Here are pdfs of the menus:
