Hot enough for you? Last night, Hurricane Schwartz said something about the sixth — 6thheat wave coming our way. The time has come. To invest. In gadgets built to turn you from sizzling to chilling. World Wide Stereo owner and overall tech guru Bob Cole picks his favorite products to take the heat off — so you don’t have to sweat the small stuff.

1. Keepin’ Cool 6 Portable Outdoor Misting System

How it works: Water forced through small pipes or hoses to tiny nozzles releases a fine, almost fog-like mist — in droplets so small most of them “flash evaporates” before touching your skin. This affordable system effectively lowers the temperature around you 15 to 20 degrees, and requires only a few gallons per hours to cool a large residential deck. To put that into perspective: The goofily-named “Keepin’ Cool” could chill out an entire dinner party for as much water as one guest uses to wash his hands. (Not that I’m encouraging anyone not to wash their hands. Please do. Vigorously and thoroughly.)

$19.99, at Costco

2. Netflix Blu Ray Player

Going to the movies to cool off is great, but can get expensive. Invest in streaming Blu Ray player for your home to instantly watch TV shows and movies on your TV. There’s no additional fee (it’s included in your membership) — and popcorn is way cheaper.

3. Outcast Speaker

Splash proof, waterproof, juice-proof, beer-proof, etc., this wireless speaker lets you enjoy rich multi-directional stereo sound throughout your house, in your yard, on your patio — even on your boat!

4. The Bedfan

This gadget removes heat generated by your body, heat that gets trapped beneath your bed sheets. This unique system enables you to sleep feeling much cooler at night and, at the same time, saves money on air conditioning costs. The Bedfan’s patent-pending cooling system has an adjustable speed dial and high-performance dual fans that allow you to control the breeze that starts at the foot of your bed and moves up the sides of your body for instant relief.

5. Clima Cushion Auto Seat Cushion

Because not all of us have thermostat-equipped car seats, this innovative cushion comes in handy [for the fanny—edit add]. Its padded design features advanced technology that circulates cooled or heated water. Great for sweaty backs, lower back discomfort— and for lowering your car’s AC-related energy consumption. Includes AC and DC adapters.

Also remember to keep electronic cool with these tips:

Don’t stack electronics. Propping your TiVo on top of your TV which is on top of your DVD player which is on top of your old VCR isn’t just unattractive: It’s dangerous. Electronics get hot enough on their own. When stacked on top of one another, they produce and conduct even higher temperatures. Use shelves.

Keep vents clear. Vents were made for a reason. It’s that simple. Keep drapes, tablecloths and decorative pillows off gadgets and their vents. They need to breathe almost as much as you do.

Position electronics away from heat. Don’t store electronics in direct sunlight or next to a space heater. In fact, if you can make sure they are near a fan or air conditioner, do. Remember: Heat rises.

In case of emergency: Shut down.
