I tried to tame my excitement for this bit of news when I was writing about it in our September issue (page 29). But, now that the time has come for formerly Virginia-based, formerly online-only shop Three Potato Four to open its first-ever store in an old mill along our very own Shurs Lane, I’m feeling the need to end sentences in: !!!
If the last time you heard of Three Potato Four was on a playground, not to worry. I’ll fill you in. The business sells the most amazing vintage signage and old letterpress drawers and fantastic milk carafes and antique drafting stools — the kinds of things you wish you could find at flea markets and yard sales, and you maybe even could, if you could manage to rise and shine at 5am on a Saturday morning to drive out to Renninger’s.
Owners Janet Morales and Stu Eli brilliantly decided to move up this way a few months ago. This Saturday, from noon to 8pm, they’ll reveal even more finds — including major pieces of furniture that never made it to their website — in their very first bricks-and-mortar shop.
After this weekend, the Three Potato Four shop will be open Fridays and Saturdays and by appointment only, with the idea they’ll open more frequently closer to the holidays.
