Were you wandering around Center City this past glorious Saturday afternoon? And did you see a magnificent blur of herringbone, Harris and Donegal whiz by, atop antique penny farthings, vintage tandems and other two-wheeled modes of transport? Then you saw the third annual Tweed Ride, a leisurely bicycle fashion show wherein dapper gents — and well-dressed dames — clad in their best Victorian (or ’20s or ’30s) era costumes, pedal around the city in a display of old-timey sartorial style. Or, as the Tweed Ride website puts it: “One hundred twenty-four dashing dandies and dames took to the streets to make Philadelphia, at least for a couple of hours, a tweedier, classier place to be.”
