HughE Dillon: Michael Leighton at Del Frisco’s

Plus: Tammy Reid kicks up her heels, and movie madness hits Philadelphia

Sex and the City 2 fever is running just about as hot as Flyers Fever in Philadelphia this week. Monday night in NYC was the official SATC2 premiere, and Philly’s own Eve and Johnny Weir walked the pink carpet along with the stars. Right here in Philly, we’re getting “Carried” away with SATC2 screenings, dinners, happy hours and even karaoke at Yakitori Boy on 211 North 11th Street from 8 to 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday night, I attended a soiree at Del Frisco’s hosted by Renee Reese of Jada Renee Style (who was blinged out in a $10k diamond necklace from Robert Perlman Jewelers) for the Philadelphia Eagles wives and a few friends.

Shortly after my arrival time of 7 p.m., I saw the magnificent sight of Tammy Reid entering the doors in her full Carrie Bradshaw attire with her best friend Lindsay Mornhinweg. Ironically Tammy has never seen Sex and the City; she was  just looking forward to a night out with the girls and got into the spirit after checking out a picture of what Carrie Bradshaw would wear. After chatting a bit while waiting for the other girls, Lindsay mentioned that her husband, Marty Mornhinweg, was downstairs eating dinner with Monday night’s superstar hero Flyer Michael Leighton, and friend Dr. Bill Myers. She brought me over to meet them.

From left: Dr. William Myers (chair of surgery, Drexel University Medical College), Tammy Reid, Flyer Michael Leighton, Lindsay Mornhinweg, and Philadelphia Eagles asst. head coach Marty Mornhinweg.

Kristel Demps, Tammy Reid, Lindsay Mornhinweg, Loretta Runyan, Kijafa Frink, Julie Dorenbos, Renee Reese, Susie Celek, Suzanne Bianca, Simona Douglas, Melissa Young, Eicka Areh, G-N Kang, Julie Brayer, and Christen Goldestein.

I suggested to my two new BFFs that it would be great fun to get a shot of them with City Hall in the background, and the two gals agreed. Tammy and Lindsay have been friends for more than 20 years.

Last night also found me at Jonathan Makar’s Rittenhouse Square Snackbar for the Small Town Saturday Night screening after-party; the movie, which was written and directed by a former server at the Rittenhouse hotspot Ryan Craig, stars Chris Pine (pre-Star Trek). Also on hand last night was Ryan Brown, Craig’s writing partner. They just finished another screenplay about piano players they hope will be optioned.

Jonathan Makar, Art of the Steal director Don Argott, Art of the Steal producer Sheena Joyce, with Ryan Craig and Ryan Brown. Also attending the party was Greater Philadelphia Film Office exec director Sharon Pinkenson, Joe Weiss, Richard and Julie Jaffe, Wayne Spivlove, Lauri Mufson, and Joelle Bradley. Sharon’s urging everyone to call the Governor and the Pennsylvania Legislature in support for funding for the Pennsylvania Film Tax Credits. She believes that with one more year of film tax credits, Philadelphia will be right up there with NYC and LA as a place to make movies.
