HughE Dillon: Sandra Bernhard at the Painted Bride

The comedian opens "I Love Being Me, Don’t You?"

Last night, quirky, brilliant comedian Sandra Bernhard opened “I Love Being Me, Don’t You?” at the Painted Bride. The show runs through this Saturday (1/14). After the sold-out performance, there was an after-party at the Palomar Hotel, where the audience was invited back for a meet-and-greet with the star. Sandra posed for the paparazzi before entering the Burnham Ballroom to greet her fans, including (below, left to right): Susan Shapiro, Leneshe White and Lynne Strieb.

Below: Sandra Bernhard’s band members, Jeremy Siskind, pianist, Alex Stickels, drummer, and Zac Taylor, guitar, are excited to explore Philadelphia over the next four days. Zac told me they planned to visit the Art Museum, the City Hall observation tower, the Record Exchange, Birra Restaurant on Passyunk Ave. and Monks. They were able to scratch one item off their bucket list when I dropped them off at Jim’s Steak’s on South Street after the party.

Below: Eileen Tognini, RJ Thornburg, Laurel Raczka (executive director at Painted Bride), and Warren Muller, recommend the show and thought it was funny and entertaining.

Below: On the best birthday of his life, Adam Lee Price (right) was happy to be “front row center with Miss Brittany Lynn (left), and his boyfriend Jeffrey Price” to see Sandra Bernhard. He started out the day on a happy note, with a champagne breakfast. The night ended at Tavern on Camac, where he is the GM.

Below: David Perschica, of David Pershica & Tapography Dance Company, and Lenny Seidman, music curator at the Painted Bride. David is one of the 12 tap dancers on the “How Philly Moves” mural painted on the Philadelphia airport parking garage you see from I-95. He also works for the Painted Bride and assisted Bernhard after her show with a meet-and-greet there. He told me she greeted, posed and signed for the entire audience before leaving the theater.

Below: Living up to her name, Glamorosi, and A.D. Amorosi. The two made a stylish couple at the party last night. I was excited to meet her as I am a big fan of her custom jewelry. Plus, OMG, those pants are so awesome. When AD’s not writing, he’s spinning at the new bar/restaurant Rogue’s Gallery on 21st Street. AD has a nice Q&A on G Philly with Sandra Bernhard.
