Governor Christie Nominates Openly Gay, Asian-American Judges to State Supreme Court


Governor Chris Christie has announced two state Supreme Court nominees today. Christie proposes that the openly gay, African-American mayor of Chatham, Bruce Harris, and Korean-American Phillip Kwon—New Jersey’s First Assistant Attorney General—be confirmed as state Supreme Court justices. Harris would be the state’s third African-American and first openly gay justice. Kwon would serve as Jersey’s first Asian-American justice. [Inquirer]
