Harrisburg Is More Dangerous Than Philadelphia

Think you’re likely to become a crime victim in Philadelphia? Just travel 90 miles west on the Schuylkill Expressway and the potential for murder and mayhem is even greater, according to a new report. The website NeighborhoodScout.com crunched crime numbers for American cities with populations of 25,000 or more and determined that Harrisburg is the 20th most dangerous city in the United States while Philadelphia sits at 52. The safest neighborhood in Philadelphia? West Philadelphia near the intersection of Lansdowne and Haverford avenues. The study based its results on population, area, and incidents of all property and violent crime, not just murder.
