HughE Dillon One-Shot: Blossom Promotes New Book

Actress Mayim Bialik, of Blossom, Big Bang Theory and What Not to Wear fame, stopped at the National Museum of American Jewish History over the weekend to discuss her theory on “attachment parenting.” She’s written a book about it called Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way, and she talked about her own journey from child actress to neuroscientist (Ph.D. from UCLA in 2007) to confident mom of two young boys, Miles and Frederick, to return to TV (she plays a neurobiologist on Big Bang Theory). Her talk was part of a series of museum programs marking the 90th anniversary of the first American Bat Mitzvah ceremony. She told the audience that the movie Beaches came out the same week as her Bat Mitzvah, and although that was an odd coincidence, her Bat Mitzvah was one of her most joyous occasions as a kid. Tonight at the museum at 7:30 p.m., legendary drummer Max Weinberg will share his personal experiences from playing his first Bar Mitvah at age seven, to performing with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, to being in the house band on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, and now in his own band, the Max Weinberg Big Band.
