PA House Majority Leader Says Voter ID Law Will Allow Romney to Win Pennsylvania

House Majority Leader Mike Turzai spoke at the Republican State Committee meeting in Hershey over the weekend. During his speech, he brought up the recently enacted Voter ID law.

“Pro-Second Amendment? The Castle Doctrine, it’s done. First pro-life legislation – abortion facility regulations – in 22 years, done. Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.”

While the remark grew a great deal of applause at the event, many Democrats are calling Turzai’s statement an admission that the bill was passed not to prevent voter fraud, but to make it more difficult for Democrats to vote. A Turzai spokesperson clarified that the comment was meant to highlight the notion that the Voter ID law will make the election more “even keel” for the Republican candidate. [Politics PA]
