US Airways flight 1267 to Dallas-Forth Worth diverted back to Philadelphia International this morning after an anonymous tipster phoned in word to the Philly Police Department of a possible security issue onboard the plane. One man was reportedly removed from the flight in handcuffs and escorted to a police vehicle while emergency personell removed the other 70-odd passengers and crew members from the plane. The flight took off at 8:06 this morning before being diverted back to Philly at 8:22 thanks to what a US Airways spokesperson called an “abundance of caution for the passengers” in an interview with NBC. No injuries have yet been reported. [NBC]
UPDATE: Turns out the phone call that started the whole thing was a hoax. Move along, nothing to see here.
