Obama Considering High-Capacity Magazine Ban

After this summer’s mass shootings at a movie theater in Colorado and at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, President Obama didn’t indicate he was considering gun control legislation, calling instead for prayer and reflection. Yesterday, something in him snapped, as he vowed to “use whatever power this office holds…in an effort aimed at preventing more tragedies like this.” While  he didn’t mention specifics in the remarks he delivered in Newtown last night, the Wall Street Journal reports that the White House is indeed considering either legislative or administrative measures, including a ban on high-capacity rifle magazines that contain ten or more rounds. Just one problem: New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg already proposed such a ban earlier this summer, to no avail. [Wall Street Journal]
