Philadelphia Has A Good Sports Story: Lacrosse

The Phillies just had a mediocre year. The Eagles? You know how that went. And the 76ers? Too sad for words. There is hope for Philadelphia sports fans yet, though: Lacrosse. At 2-0, the Philadelphia Wings are the lone unbeaten team in the National Lacrosse League’s East Division. They play the Buffalo Bandits on Sunday.

The Wings beat the Bandits 13-8 in Philadelphia on Jan. 11 and pulled off an 8-7 upset in Toronto last Saturday. Goaltender Brandon Miller has been outstanding.

”We’re D-first right now,” GM-coach Johnny Mouradian said. ”That’s giving us an opportunity to win.”

Transition speedster Jordan Hall returns to the Wings lineup after a one-game suspension kept him out in Toronto.

The game will be shown live at 7:30 pm Saturday on the NLL’s YouTube channel. They’re also home at 4 p.m. Sunday against the Calgary Roughnecks, at the Wells Fargo Center. [Lax Magazine]
