Cupid’s Undie Run in Philadelphia

Do-gooders brave the cold—in their underwear!—to raise money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

There’s the Naked Bike Race, the Santa Run, and now comes the First Annual Philadelphia Cupid’s Undie Run—sorta like Philly’s Polar Bear Plunge without getting wet. The participants run in their undies in the frigid February temperatures, and on Saturday, with a dusting of snow, nearly 500 runners stripped down to their undies to brave the cold and raise money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation ($60,318 was raised). Runners warmed up inside the Urban Saloon on Fairmount Avenue before hitting the street at 2 p.m. The course was a “one mile-ish” loop around Eastern State Penitentiary. Sixteen other cities also held Undie runs, and the fund-raisers brought in more than one million.
