John McDaniel Pleads Guilty. Is He Cooperating?

NewsWorks reports: “The former campaign treasurer for a Philadelphia city councilwoman has pleaded guilty in federal court. He had already been fired from his day job with the city. John McDaniel was the treasurer of Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown’s campaign and admitted to one count of wire fraud for stealing $100,000 of campaign funds. …McDaniel’s sentencing is set for May 14th.”

The quickness of McDaniel’s plea—and his apparent cooperation with the FBI—re-raises Victor Fiorillo’s question from Wednesday: “Is there a bigger person up the chain here? Is someone going to finally stand up to the patronage potty known as the Philadelphia Airport? Does this relate to Chaka Fattah Jr., son of the Congressman, whose name came up in the Reynolds Brown reports and whom the FBI has been investigating? Or do the feds have their sights set on even bigger fish? Somebody has got to be sweating big time.”
