Wildwood Beaches Stay Free This Summer

Wildwood city officials on Wednesday decided to withdraw a ballot measure that, if approved, would’ve resulted in admissions fees being charged for the city’s beaches this summer.  CBS Philly reports that Mayor Ernie Troiano hoped the money would cover budget shortfalls and replenish funds for beach and park maintenance: “You have people who will sit there and chop your head off because their taxes are too high,” he says, “and then you try to create a revenue source and then they chop your head off for that.” Local business owners worried the fees would chase visitors over to neighboring Atlantic City.
