Scott Paterno Condemns Harassment of Sara Ganim
After I filed my piece today about the harassment of Sara Ganim—the reporter who broke the Jerry Sandusky story at Penn State—I got a lot of, ahem, contentious comments from Penn Staters, but thought I’d leave the issue there. I re-open it for one reason: Scott Paterno—Joe’s son—has spoken up on Twitter tonight to also condemn the harassment of Ganim.
I have been reluctant to jump into this, but feel the need given some of the the uglier things I have read about Ganim (1/2).

A lot of the criticism is unfair, and the personal attacks have to stop. Disagree on substance, but be respectful. (2/2)

No one gains from an ugly assault on someone who has been largely fair. I have had my disagreements with her, but address them politely.

And it is never appropriate for anyone to ever be degrading or threatening. Treat all people as you wish to be treated.

As Sarah will tell you herself, when I disagree with her I let her know – but I do so based on substance, not anger. Please be respectful.

A classy move by Scott Paterno tonight.
