PA Justice Joan Orie Melvin Found Guilty of Corruption

Politics PA reports: “Pa. Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin is guilty of 6 out of 7 counts of corruption, a jury found Thursday afternoon. She and her sister Janine Orie used public employees for campaign work and other related activities. “Although the jury acquitted her of one count, Melvin, 56, will likely be stripped of her seat on the state’s highest court, and will likely lose her pension,” reported Adam Brandolph of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.”

The website adds: “She’s only the second justice ever to be removed from the bench on the grounds of criminality.”
