South Philly’s own papal svengali Rocco Palmo is headed to the Vatican to cover the highly anticipated conclave this month, reports Poynter’s Andrew Beaujon. More importantly, I missed Poynter’s earlier profile of Palmo, which ran last week. Interesting details: Palmo speaks Italian (a must), FaceTimes with bishops, and hates being called a blogger. (It’s true, he works sources and uncovers scoops like an old-school scribe at the Inky, where his father worked in the circ. department.) Also, of course, check out the Q&A I conducted with Palmo after the Pope announced his resignation. [Poynter]
