Derek Jeter’s Glorious Career As a Scranton Rail-Rider Has Ended

Derek Jeter, who’s been a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Rider since last weekend, is officially bidding farewell to the Yankees Triple-A affiliate. He’s back in the Bronx today, where he singled in his first at-bat. It’ll be the most tearful goodbye at PNC stadium since, well, May, when the cast of The Office took the field.

During his nearly week-long stay in Scranton, Jeter became a man about town, eating dinners at steakhouses around the region, having a salad at State Street Grill in Clarks Summit, seafood at Cooper’s, lunch at the Downtown Deli and hitting Pittston for Italian food. He became a Starbucks regular at the Steamtown Mall, and he posed for pictures with fans at just about every stop.
