Scenes from my first Mrs. Carter concert.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Jay-Z showed up on Thursday night at Beyonce’s show at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Supposedly, it was a surprise to Beyonce.

But before any of that happened, the show was already memorable. Beyonce killed it — and I do mean killed it. It was the 50th stop of her Mrs. Carter Tour, and the first time that I had the chance to see her live.

She performed all of your favorite Beyonce songs (and some Beyonce tunes that I couldn’t identify even if you stuck a gun to my head–sorry, I am more of a Pink Floyd guy), and she put on one hell of a show.

Even if you’re not the biggest fan of “Crazy In Love” or “Single Ladies”, it’s pretty hard to deny that the woman can perform. And perform she did on Thursday night.

It should not go without mention that prior to her appearance on the stage, Beyonce used the giant projection screens in the Wells Fargo Center to advertise non-profits Goodwill and her Chime for Change charity (“a community of people working to promote education, health and justice for every girl, every woman, everywhere”). Every performing artist should do this. Few do.

Below, some incredible photos from an incredible show:
