Paterno Rebuttal to Freeh Report: Joe Paterno Was Victim of Sandusky’s Grooming

Unsurprisingly, the Paterno family's rebuttal to Penn State's Freeh Report, dubbed the "Critique of the Freeh report" and released Sunday morning at the new paterno.com, asserts that the Freeh Report is totally wrong. The rebuttal is a compilation of "independent analyses" conducted over six months by four "experts"—former PA governor Dick Thornburgh, onetime FBI profiler Jim Clemente, Fred S. Berlin, a doctor who specializes in sex abuse and sex disorders, and Wick Sollers, the Paterno family's attorney. Citing interviews with Joe Paterno before his death and "access to the lawyers for other Penn State administrators," the critique includes the following:

PHOTOS: Jon Hamm and the Next Season of Mad Men

News came out yesterday that the next season of Mad Men will premiere April 7th, along with confirmation that this will be the second to last season for the show. Today, AMC released these promo photos of Jon Hamm and the rest of the dapper cast. And while some websites wasted time looking for clues about what the next season of Mad Men will bring (Pete's sideburns!), AMC had me at "photos of Jon Hamm." [AMC/Mad Men]

Razzies Nominate 5 Worst Movies of 2012

The 33rd annual Razzie award nominations were announced today, and the losers are:

Battleship

The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure

That's My Boy

A Thousand Words

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

You might be able to name 1,000 things that were terrible about the final Twilight movie (and you better start with that CGI baby head), but I'm still thankful it gave us this post: "9 Possible Surprise Endings for Twilight (With Pictures)" and Doogie Horner's illo of a Twilight/Fifty Shades of Grey mashup. A Thousand Words landed Eddie Murphy on Post contributor Aaron Mettey's Biggest Losers of 2012 list. And, finally, if...

Make Your Reservations Now: Philly Mag’s 50 Best Restaurants

When I got my first look at Philly Mag's "50 Best Restaurants," list, I immediately swore. Not because I vehemently disagreed with anything that made the list (like my foodie friend who actually once uttered the words, "the era of French cuisine is waning," and who called me in disbelief with "Federal Donuts made the list? Really?"), or because I was jealous that the food guys, Jason Sheehan and Arthur Etchells, got to chomp their way through so many good Philadelphia restaurants. I swore because I haven't yet eaten at the #1 "best Philadelphia restaurant" on the list. And now...

Alycia Lane’s Claims Against CBS Dismissed

A judge has dismissed onetime CBS 3 anchor Alycia Lane's claims against her former employer. Lane sued CBS several months after she was released from her $750,000-a-year contract in 2008, after a series of public scandals, one involving her emailing a bikini shot to a married NFL Network anchor, and another being arrested for allegedly hitting an NYPD officer in the face. [READ: Philly Mag's 2008 "The Very Public Self-Destruction of Alycia Lane"] Lane's lawsuit against her former co-anchor Larry Mendte (a Philly Post contributor), who pleaded guilty in 2008 to illegally accessing Lane's emails, isn't over. Liam Hemsworth Makes College Roomie Reunion Best Girls’ Night Ever

There's girls' night out, and then there's girls' night out where you and your college roomies have sipped enough Champagne-o-Ramas at Continental Midtown to have the nerve to go up to actor Liam Hemsworth, in Philadelphia shooting a movie, and ask him to pose with you for a pic that you may or may not get silkscreened onto t-shirts for all the gals to wear at next year's reunion. Says one girls-night-out girlfriend (this happened Saturday night) pictured, "He was very nice and didn't mind us asking for a photo!"

Risa Vetri Ferman Named L’Oreal “Woman of Worth”

Likely already Philly's most decorated family, the Vetris have another award to pin on the fridge. While her brother, chef Marc Vetri, has his own share of accolades, Montco D.A. Risa Vetri Ferman was just named "L’Oreal Paris’ 2012 Woman of Worth." Ferman scored 70,000 online votes in a "contest" with nine other do-gooder women. With the honor comes $25,000 for her nonprofit Mission Kids, which helps victims of child abuse in Montco.

“I am deeply honored to be selected as a L’Oreal Paris Woman of Worth,” said Ferman. “This generous award will help Mission Kids protect and support children who have been abused. Just...

Philly Police: Robbing 9-Year-Old a “New Low”

An adult woman stole a cell phone from a third-grader right after the young girl got off her school bus in Southwest Philly yesterday. The phone wasn't even fully functional, and the girl only used it to play games.

Lt. John Walker said, “It’s just unacceptable. It’s behavior that really shouldn’t be tolerated by anybody in this community. She’s traumatized by this, I mean who at nine years old wants to fall victim of a crime like this on the city streets.” [CBS 3]

The girl talk got real between NJ Governor Chris Christie and Jon Stewart on The View Daily Show last night, with the two gabbing about how Christie finally got to first base with the guy he's been crushin' on forevs, Bruce Springsteen (duh), and the new man in his life: Barack Obama.
