Germantown High Grad Bill Cosby Thinks Germantown High Should Close

Germantown High is closing at the end of this school year, but one of its most famous alumni—Bill Cosby—isn't shedding any tears. He told NewsWorks why in a May interview that's just now being published:

"I gave a talk there maybe four years ago, and on the way there, the area felt drug-infested.

"When I got up on stage, they said, 'Here's Bill Cosby to talk to you, students.' I looked out and they were looking back at me like I'm the problem. Kids laughing, not paying any attention, not wanting to be there. Some were just sitting there and trying to look

Jimmy Fallon, Dancing Incredibly Awkwardly with Bill Cosby

Cosby was on Fallon last night, and it took him half the segment to get to his chair. That's because he was busy dancing to reggae music, which he says doesn't even like: "It's sort of like dancing with one leg shorter than the other." Fallon, for his part, flails awkwardly and spends a lot of time bending over in forced laughter. Not because Cosby isn't funny, but because Cosby was literally taking over his show and he didn't know what else to do.

By the time they get to the actual interview, Cosby basically calls Jimmy out for fake-laughing, resulting

John Hodgman and Daily Show Crew Hosting Free Performance at Temple

The Daily Show's "resident expert" and Deranged Millionaire John Hodgman is coming to Temple tomorrow night, along with two of the show's producers/writers, Rory Albanese and Adam Lowitt. The performance, which is come-one, come-all, first-come, first-served, is called "Comedy Central Presents: 'The Daily Show' Live" and is being described fairly non-descriptively as a "night full of laughter." At the very least it will feature stand-up comedy and Cosby sweaters.

Finally: “Cosby Sweaters” Explained

For adults of a certain age, the term "Cosby sweater" is instantly evocative—a reminder of the multi-hued creations that Bill Cosby always seemed to wear onscreen during his spectacular run as Dr. Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show.

This is a Cosby sweater. So is this. And this. Get the idea?

Thankfully, Collectors Weekly has come along and done what's probably the best and fullest exploration of how the sweaters came to be. Why? At whose behest? And did Cosby or the show's producers realize they were creating a cultural icon?

Mostly, they were built to keep Cosby comfy:

In fact, Cosby adopted the

VIDEO: Bill Cosby Being Awesome on the NESN Red Sox Pregame Show

On Thursday night, the Red Sox lost 2-0 to the Yankees. The real show was before the game, though, when Cosby was on the NESN pregame show before throwing out the first pitch. When one of the hosts cracked a joke about Cosby pitching the sixth inning for the Red Sox, and Cosby responded by saying that the team would trade him to the Dodgers. Cosby brought the guys some "Hungry Ghost bread." Then he killed it with a really simple corn bread joke. Also, he makes plane noises because he's awesome. [NESN]

VIDEO: Temple Students Try and Fail at Flipping a Bus

In news that serves only to devalue my degree, it looks like a bunch of Temple students recently tried to flip over a campus shuttle bus with the driver and two passengers still onboard for no real reason at all. The attempted flipping went down Sunday, August 26 near 1:30 a.m. on 18th and Arlington Streets, with YouTube videos of the event (above) recently surfacing to help aid police efforts. A non-Temple male, aged 19 or 20, was arrested, but given the sizes of busses generally, he probably didn't act alone–we hope. Some 150 other students mingled in the area

Bill Cosby Isn’t Dead, Is a Victim of a Twitter Death Hoax

Philly native and Temple alum Bill Cosby is the celebrity most recently killed off by a Twitter death hoax. VIDEO: Bill Cosby Was Amazing on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

On Thursday, Bill Cosby had what is undoubtedly the greatest appearance in the history of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The Philly native talks about his time at Temple and his powerful thighs, puts on a bit of a dance seminar, demonstrates how to throw a hammer, and offered up what many are calling the "greatest walk-on of all time." Happy Friday, you guys.

Betty White Adopts an Owl for Bill Cosby’s 75th Birthday

Philly funnyman Bill Cosby (who didn't win the 2012 Home Run Derby, in case you were wondering) turns 75 on Thursday. In honor of Cosby's birthday, comedienne Betty White has adopted a Eurasian Eagle Owl at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.

“Bill and his Owl are a perfect match,” said White. “Not only are they both extremely wise, they’re both always such a hoot! And I know how much Bill loves his alma mater, Temple University. GO OWLS!!”

At Least 21 People Think Bill Cosby Will Win the 2012 Home Run Derby

ESPN created a Facebook poll asking people to vote for who they believed would win Monday's 2012 Home Run Derby. A write-in option was included as an available choice (presumably by mistake). The responses are a great example of why the Internet is a wonderful (and occasionally terrible) place. Former Bulls forward Brian Scalabrine, Tim Tebow, Batman, and Chuck Norris have all received write-in votes. Professional funnyman and Temple alum Bill Cosby had received 21 votes as of 11 a.m. Seventy-three people responded with, "thats a clown question bro [sic]." [Deadspin]
