Philadelphia athletes Charles Barkley and Michael Vick have given Sports Illustrated their nominations for the magazine's "Sportsman of the Year" award. Barkley's pick: Tennis champ Andy Murray, of course, for reasons that may soon become apparent. "Think about it: Murray is one of the four or five best players in a 10-year period and he happens to playing against three of the best players ever. So when he finally got over the hump, I was so happy for him." As for Vick, his pick was Olympic gold-medalist Gabby Douglas. "There's always pressure in anything that you do, just in life

Charles Barkley recently spoke with the folks at SI.com to discuss what it's like to be cursed out by Michael Jordan and what to expect from the 2012-2013 NBA season. Sir Charles says to expect the Lakers or Thunder to come out of the West and the Heat or Celtics to come out of the East. Oh, and he says that ugly women don't have a chance to work as sideline reporters. So, there's that. [SI.com]

Sir Charles Barkley—former Sixer, terrible golfer, karaoke enthusiast—is a spokesman for Weight Watchers. In a new commercial for the weight loss method, Barkley helps explain that for every 35 pounds a guy loses, his penis may become an inch larger. In doing so, he takes a faux role call by spouting off nicknames for the male genitalia. So, if you've ever thought it would be hilarious to hear Barkley say "Buster McThunderstick," this is a 49-second video you won't want to miss. [The 700 Level]

Former Sixer Sir Charles Barkley was dining/drinking a massive bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal at the Chicago Cut Steakhouse on Sunday when he bumped into much maligned Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and his top target Brandon Marshall. Barkley has previously stood up for Cutler, comparing him to LeBron James and suggesting that there are just certain athletes that the media doesn't like. So, on Sunday, when Barkley realized he was eating near the quarterback and his wideout, he decided to pick up the players' check. [Chicago Tribune]

Everyone's favorite one-man Boyz II Men cover band, Charles Barkley, made an appearance on a Chicago-area sports talk radio show on Thursday to talk about recent comments that golfer Greg Norman made about Tiger Woods. Mainly, Norman said that Woods was intimidated by the No. 1 golfer in the world, phenom Rory McIlroy. Barkley thinks that Woods should be standing up for himself.
But like, you just can’t say anything about that kid you want to. I wish I could just put some of my blackness in him.
That means, like, hey man... toughness. And I’m not talking about that mental

Charles Barkley was recently down in North Carolina for a charity golf outing. After presumably shanking an entire carton of golf balls into the woods and hazards and traps along the course, Sir Charles decided to take out his frustration on the patrons of a nearby bar by performing his rendition of Boyz II Men's "End of the Road." It's as awful as you'd imagine it would be until BOYZ II MEN COME UP AND FINISH THE SONG FOR HIM. Seriously, if this happened in Philly we'd be forced to declare it a city-wide holiday because it's pretty much the

As the Sixers look for team president Rod Thorn's successor, Charles Barkley has offered up his services. The former Sixer was texting with 94WIP's Anthony Gargano. When Gargano asked Barkley if he'd be interest in the gig he responded, "yes sir." Thorn absorbed the duties of the GM when Ed Stefanski took a post in Toronto prior to the start of this season. Barkley has no front office experience. [CBS 3]

Last night, Sir Charles Barkley took his shirt off on live television. That's not something we'd immediately consider to be below the former Sixer, but the strange thing about the incident is that it was a planned, scripted and promoted segment (with voting!) on TNT's Inside the NBA. Please, avert your eyes.
