The Christie-Booker Bromance Has Officially Ended

From pulling off a mini-buddy film to joining forces in support of school vouchers, Chris Christie and Cory Booker are yin and yang in the nation's favorite bipartisan political bromance. Even by running for U.S. Senate in 2014, rather than against Christie for governor this year, it seemed he was avoiding confrontation with his friend. Goodbye to all that, now. Booker's new BFF is Christie's challenger Barbara Buono, with whom he spent the day yesterday, yukking it up like old pals.

Bantering about prom dates and Jersey diners, and lobbing a few attacks against Christie, Buono and Booker spent more than

Senate Hopeful Geraldo Rivera Tries to Start Twitter War with Cory Booker

Fox News stalwart Geraldo "My last name won't help me win the Hispanic vote" Rivera has been mulling a run for New Jersey Senator for a little over a month now. In that time, he's repeatedly taken shots at Cory Booker over Twitter. His most recent jab officially crossed the line from political gamesmanship to all-out WAR. If Booker notices. Booker might respond if Geraldo had the nerve to tweet directly at him.

Reading endless cascade of tweets from Newark's Mayor Booker one wonders whether any deed however humble goes unremarked?

Inquirer Prays for Interesting Primary; Pretends People Other Than Cory Booker Have Shot at Senate

Now that ye old cranky fox of the New Jersey Senate is retiring, the Inky's Christie-hound Matt Katz has dutifully assembled a list of possible successors who don't have a chance of beating Cory Booker in a primary. Including, but not limited, to: Senate President Stephen Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver, State Senate Minority Leader Thomas H. Kean Jr., and Assembly Majority Leader Jon Bramnick. And since everyone on the list is a total longshot anyways, he goes ahead and lists former Rhode Island Congressman Patrick "Hates Politics but Felt Forced Into it by His Dad Teddy" Kennedy, who's recently relocated to the Shore

Jersey’s Lautenberg Won’t Run Again, Clearing Way For Cory Booker

The Star-Ledger reports: "U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, a pugnacious and plain-spoken Democrat who has represented New Jersey for three decades, will not seek re-election to a sixth term next year.'I am not announcing the end of anything. I am announcing the beginning of a two-year mission to pass new gun safety laws, protect children from toxic chemicals and create more opportunities for working families in New Jersey,' Lautenberg told the Star-Ledger. 'While I may not be seeking re-election, there is plenty of work to do before the end of this term and I'm going to keep fighting as hard asever

Frank Lautenberg Was Going to Retire…Until Cory Booker Ran for his Seat

Until recently, New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg was planning to retire, leaving the field open for Cory Booker to take his place. Until, that is, Cory Booker decided to run for his seat. The Times reports that a couple Lautenberg aides told Booker in December that their boss was going to retire soon anyways, and that the Newark Mayor should just hold off an an announcement until he did so. Instead, Booker jumped the gun and announced he was running (without talking to his potential primary opponent). So Lautenberg decided to stick it to the whippersnapper. “I’m going to finish the

And There’s More! Cory Booker Saves Dog From Freezing Cold

Not five minutes after I finish writing about Cory Booker's efforts to turn guns into bangles, and I learn he's saved a dog from the freezing cold. Yesterday, WABC New York reporter Toni Yates tweeted at Cory Booker that she saw a couple of dogs left out in the cold in Newark.

#pets cold Yay! Newark for its heat help. Make pet owners get their dogs out of the cold. Saw 2 dogs freezing @eyewitnessabc7 @corybooker

After the message got passed around Twitter, Booker showed up, grabbed the shivering "Chacha" and put her in the back

Hero-Mayor Cory Booker Can Turn Guns into Bracelets

Cory Booker's always been something of a shapeshifter. He's a Stanford grad and Rhodes Scholar who decided to live in a public housing complex for a decade. He's a mayor who moonlights as superhero, shoveling snow banks and rescuing citizens from burning homes. He's even morphed from a gubernatorial to senatorial candidate in a matter of months. Now, he's transforming Newark's lethal weapons into pretty jewlery.

The always-innovative mayor’s new project, The Caliber Collection, [get it?] features utilitarian-chic bangles and cuffs made from the steel of 250 confiscated guns and brass of shell casings swept from the ground of crime scenes. Each

Cory Booker Wrote About His Homophobia at Stanford

In 1992, Cory Booker wrote an op-ed column for the Stanford Daily about his (successful) struggle to shed his homophobia. "I was disgusted by gays," Booker wrote at the time. "The thought of two men kissing each other was about as appealing as a frontal lobotomy." And another bit: "Allow me to be more direct, escaping the euphemisms of my past – I hated gays. The disgust and latent hostility I felt toward gays were subcategories of hatred, plain and simple." Being Cory Booker, the Newark mayor responded to criticism on twitter, first by explaining his column, then simply by

Cory Booker Pillow Talks Frank Lautenberg, Gives Him “Space”

Cory Booker's new strategy to convince the 88 year-old Lautenberg to give up his senate seat before Cory Booker runs for it: pre-break-up pillow talk. "I want to give him the space to make his own decision," Booker told Soledad O'Brien this morning on CNN. (Oh but au contraire, it's Lautenberg who's repeatedly blown off Cory's requests to "talk".) Later in the interview, Booker managed to eked out the L-word after a second-long struggle with his pride and masculinity. “I’m a guy who actually has a deep respect and love for my...for...for him.” C'mon Frankie baby, it'll be better for you

Cory Booker and Mark Zuckerberg’s Juicy Email Correspondence to be Released

A couple years ago, Jersey native Mark Zuckerberg handed Newark public schools a $100 million grant. The education reform movement, with Zuckerberg and Cory Booker as allies, was elated, while many on the left were skeptical about how the money would (and has been) spent. Today, a judge ruled that the email correspondence between Booker and Zuckerberg must now be revealed, something the city had resisted. Check back soon for details. I can only assume they've been trading war stories about which Stanford frats throw the best parties. [Star-Ledger]
